Region's seafood proving tempting for Larry David film

ESSEX — J. T. Farnham’s restaurant in Essex took on a taste of Hollywood this week, when the popular seafood eatery closed for the day to host shooting for comic icon and producer Larry David’s new HBO film “Clear History.”

While David himself did not appear to be on the Farnham’s set, film crews and at least a couple of the actors were on the scene off Route 133, Farnham’s owner Terry Cellucci said.

Crews have also been filming in Gloucester, with other scenes expected to be shot in Essex at Woodman’s Restaurant as well.

In the film, David — best known as co-creator and executive producer of “Seinfeld,” and for his own role in HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” — plays a former marketing executive, feuding with and seeking revenge on a former boss.

The movie’s story is actually set on a small island off the Massachusetts coast, though much of it is being filmed on the North Shore and on Cape Ann, Lisa Strout, director of the Massachusetts Film Office, said last week.
