hit-and-run case reaches plea deal

Newburyport: Elyssa Davis was struck while jogging last fall

The collision shattered both bones in Davis’ lower right leg. Following the arrival of EMTs and firefighters, Davis was transported to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where X-rays were taken. Due to the serious nature of the breaks, she was then transferred to Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she underwent surgery. Doctors there inserted a titanium rod in her leg that will stabilize the bones over the course of several months. She returned to work in late October.

Two days after the accident , Sheridan called police saying he might have struck something as he entered Interstate 95 from Storey Avenue.

“A wild animal or something, but I didn’t see anything,” Sheridan told the station’s dispatcher, according to court records.
