First Parish yard sale today

The First Parish Church of Newbury will hold a yard sale today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 18 Reilly Ave., Newburyport. Dishes, freezer, furniture and other items will be for sale.

Indoor yard sale at Market Street Baptist today

Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., is hosting an indoor yard sale today from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Items fill the gym at the back of the building. Nothing is priced. Donations of whatever buyers can give will be accepted. The proceeds from this sale go directly to a fund that will pay the expenses for several church volunteers to go to Canada the week of Aug. 3-10.

This will be the fifth summer connecting with Pastor Ian MacFarlane and the members of the Living Hope Community Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Each year volunteers spend the week at this church helping with children’s programs like Vacation Bible School and Bible Basketball. The Canadian church’s volunteers have also come to Amesbury twice to help with similar programs.

May Breakfast at First Religious Society

Today, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport, will have their Annual May Breakfast in the Parish Hall. A hearty breakfast of local eggs, fried or scrambled, ham, veggie sausages, baked beans, hash browns, pancakes with local maple syrup, fresh fruit salad, and baked goods will be served, as well as Fair Trade coffee, tea and juice. $6 adults and $4 children.

Blessing of the Pets today in Merrimac

Blessing of the Pets will be held at 9 a.m. today at Kimball Park, corner of Union Street and West Main Street (Route 110) in Merrimac. The event will be hosted by the Merrimacport United Methodist Church. All pets welcome whether they walk, creep, fly, slither or swim. In case of rain the event will be canceled – if the weather is questionable, call or check online. All pets should be on a leash or in a carrier to ensure the safety of all.
