Private Second Class Ashok Yalla has completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Yalla was a Banner Day Award recipient and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal. He is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, in the ROTC program, majoring in political science.

A 2011 graduate of Newburyport High School, he is the son of Dr. Subbarao and Jamie Yalla of Newburyport.
