'Winter in Newburyport' photo contest begins Jan. 1

Newburyport Daily News

---- — NEWBURYPORT — Local postmaster Paul Bolas is hosting his second annual “Winter in Newburyport” photo contest.

Beginning on Jan. 1, interested photographers can pick up an entry form at the Newburyport post office, 61 Pleasant St., or the Salisbury post office at 6 Elm St.

There are two categories for the contest: adult and young adult (ages 16 and younger). Applicants can submit up to three photos, and they must have been taken in Newburyport, Newbury or Salisbury.

“It has to be a local flavor,” Bolas said of the theme for the photos. Judges would prefer a local landscape scene or landmark, so that it can easily be determined that the photo was taken in one of the three communities, he said.

The winning photographs will be displayed in the lobby of the Newburyport post office for one year. Each winner will receive a $50 Newburyport gift card.

The preferred size for the photographs is 8-by-10, and all entries must be mailed. Applications and photos can be sent to “Winter in Newburyport” photo contest, P.O. Box 5, Newburyport, 09150. Entries are due on March 15.
