Churches plan Christmas Eve, Christmas Day services

---- — The following Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services are planned:

Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High St., Newburyport

A traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve Family Service at 7 p.m. with music, carols and Gospel lessons.

Christian Science Church, 22 Inn St., Newburyport

A gratitude service on Christmas Day from 7:30-8:30 p.m., with readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Community United Methodist Church, 6 Central St., Byfield, and People’s United Methodist Church, 64 Purchase St., Newburyport, will be joining together for Christmas Eve worship services.

5 p.m. at Community UMC for outdoor worship with the praise band out on the church lawn.

7 p.m. at People’s UMC for a traditional candlelight worship.

East Parish United Methodist Church, 8 Lafayette Road, Salisbury

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, a family service, is at 5 p.m.

First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport

Family Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m.

First Parish Church, 20 High St., Newbury

Candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 6 p.m., with Lessons and Carols.

Hope Community Church, 11 Hale St., Newburyport

Christmas Eve at 5 and 7 p.m.: a traditional candlelight service. A special offering will be taken to help those in need in our world.

Immaculate Conception Parish, Newburyport

Christmas Eve, 4 p.m., church; 4 p.m., school auditorium; 6 p.m., church; midnight, church.

Christmas Day: 8 and 10 a.m., church.

Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury

Christmas Eve Pageant & Family Candlelight Service from 5-6 p.m. The Nativity Story is presented in pageant form along with hymns of celebration of Christ’s birth and is suitable for all ages.

Merrimacport United Methodist Church, 39 High St., Merrimac

Christmas Eve on the River: 6 p.m., Candlelight Service, a family-friendly service with singing of carols and lighting of candles.

11 p.m., Readings and Carols Service, a traditional midnight service ending with candlelighting at midnight.

St. James Episcopal Church, 120 Main St., Amesbury

Christmas Eve at 4 p.m., the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Godly Play Pageant and Holy Eucharist, Rite II.

Christmas Eve at 8 p.m., the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Choir and Candles. Holy Eucharist Rite 1.

Christmas Day at 10 a.m., Holy Eucharist Rite 1.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 166 High St., Newburyport

Christmas Eve Family Service with Paper Bag Pageant, 4 p.m.; special music and carol singing, 9 p.m.; Festival Holy Eucharist, 9:30 p.m.

Christmas Day at 9 a.m., Holy Eucharist with Carols.

Union Congregational Church, 350 Main St., Amesbury

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held at 7 p.m.
