Port man charged in Gloucester car breaks

GLOUCESTER — A 20-year-old Newburyport man was arrested Tuesday on charges of breaking into cars, with at least four car breaks reported off Eastern Avenue.

Nicholas Mazza, 20, of Washington Street, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. after allegedly being seen breaking into a car on Hartz Street. He then was stopped by police while he was walking on Bass Avenue.

Police say a bag of coins, several dollars, GPS units, an iPod, a lighter, electronics and a bag of marijuana were found in Mazza's possession.

Mazza was charged with two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and possession of a class D substance.
