Deadline for photo contest is March 15

NEWBURYPORT — Local Postmaster Paul Bolas has announced that March 15 is the last day for submission of entries for the second annual photo contest focusing on “winter in Newburyport.”

Hard copies of photos can be mailed to the Post Office, at P.O. Box 5, Newburyport, MA 01950-9998.

The contest is divided into two categories: adult and young adult (16 years old and younger). A $50 gift certificate will be awarded to a winner in each category.

Close to 130 submitted entries last year, many of whom focused on outdoor themes stressing nature and wildlife.

Many of the photographs will hang on the walls of the post office for the coming year. Photograph subjects should reflect the local area that the post office covers: Newburyport, Newbury and Salisbury.

Bolas said the Newburyport Framers on Graf Road will serve as the framer for the top entries this year.
