Council committee assignments issued Monday

NEWBURYPORT — The City Council is scheduled to meet Monday night at 7:30 at City Hall, in what will be the first session to include recently elected councilors.

Five new faces will join the 11-member body: Jared Eigerman (Ward 2), Charles Tontar (Ward 4), Larry Giunta (Ward 5) and Meghan Kinsey and Bruce Vogel, at-large.

The agenda calls for committee assignments to be announced, in which Council President Tom O’Brien will assign all of the councilors to seats on the council’s nine subcommittees.

The council is also scheduled to finalize a meeting schedule and accept the council rules for 2014.

Also on the agenda is a “mayoral veto order Cushing Park.” City leaders and local residents have been discussing the urban park for months, and the matter will come up again for discussion at Monday’s meeting.
