Historical Society offers view into the past

The Rowley Historical Society will host “An Introduction to Genealogy” by local teacher and genealogist Richard Doyle on Tuesday, June 11, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Rowley Town Library. In this free, one-time session, Doyle will explain some of the information you can gain by exploring your family’s genealogy further. Interested in how the construction is going at the Rowley Country Club? Attend the next Planning Board meeting on Wednesday, May 29, to learn more. The meeting, which will be held at the Town Hall annex on Central Street, begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Triton Middle School Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, June 11, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Triton auditorium. The school’s band, jazz band, chorus and select chorus will all perform, under the direction of Deborah MacKinnon and Bob Lathrop. This concert is the culmination of the year’s work by these groups, and promises an enjoyable evening of entertainment. All are welcome to attend this free evening of music.

Registration is now under way for the eighth annual Golfing for Goal Golf Tournament. The proceeds from the tournament benefit enrichment programs and the STEM initiative at the Pine Grove School through the Rowley Public Education Fund.

The event will be held Monday, June 17, at Ould Newbury Golf Club, 319 Newburyport Turnpike, Newbury, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The entry fee of $100 ($125 after June 1) covers greens fees, golf cart and lunch. To register contact Joanna White at joannalwhite@verizon.net.

During the month of June, the Rowley Public Library will display paintings by Newbury artist and art teacher Donna Callahan. Her work favors landscapes and floral studies, chosen for their glorious colors. Callahan currently teaches art and has been a guest demonstrator at the Topsfield Fair.
