Meditative prayer services in Amesbury

Step away from the hustle and into grace with quiet music, prayer, readings and candlelight. Thursday services will begin on March 13, 6-6:30 p.m., at Main Street Church, Amesbury.

St. James Bean Supper March 15

St. James Episcopal Church is having a Bean Supper on Saturday, March 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 119 Washington St., Groveland. Adults, $8, children under 12, $4. For more information, visit online at www.saintjamesgroveland.org.

Corned Beef Dinner March 15

Holy Family Parish will serve up a Corned Beef Dinner with red and gray corned beef, cabbage, potato, carrots, turnip, fresh baked soda bread, beverage and dessert on Saturday, March 15, 4-6 p.m. Adults are $10, children under 12, $6, children under 6 are free. This will be held at Holy Family Parish Hall in Amesbury to support the parish.

Church yard sale March 15 at Hope Church

On March 15 from 9 a.m.-noon, there is a huge indoor yard sale at Hope Community Church (in the gym). All proceeds will support the mission trip to Kenya this summer to help children with disabilities. There will be hundreds of items for sale. No early birds. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Introduction to Meditation

The Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport will offer two events for beginning meditators: Introduction to Insight Meditation drop-in class on Tuesday, March 18, at 7 p.m., and a meditation retreat for beginners on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m. These are both designed for anyone interested in learning Insight Meditation (Vipassana). Vipassana is a simple practice that steadies the mind by grounding attention in the present moment; it originated in the Buddhist tradition more than 2,500 years ago.
