Introduction to Meditation

The Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport will offer two events for beginning meditators: Introduction to Insight Meditation drop-in class on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and a meditation retreat for beginners on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. These are both designed for anyone interested in learning Insight Meditation (Vipassana). Vipassana is a simple practice that steadies the mind by grounding attention in the present moment; it originated in the Buddhist tradition more than 2,500 years ago. Meditative prayer services in Amesbury

Step away from the hustle and into grace with quiet music, prayer, readings and candlelight. Thursday services will be held through April 10, 6-6:30 p.m., at Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main St., Amesbury.

Kirkin of the Tartan service April 6

There will be a Kirkin of the Tartan Service and Celebration at St. Paul’s Church, 166 High St., Newburyport, on Sunday, April 6, at 10:15 am. The service will feature several Scottish clans in attendance to have their clan tartan flags blessed. There will also be a meet and greet with the attending clans in the church hall after the service.
