Amesbury is one of a half-dozen school districts across the state that are currently looking for a new superintendent. Right now, the Amesbury town website, amesburyma.gov, has links to a survey that citizens are being asked to take in order to define what they are looking for in a superintendent. A schedule of upcoming focus group meetings, created for the same reason, is also available. To access the information, log on to www.amesburyma.gov and click on the Our Schools tab at the top. The first entry in the News section is a link to both the survey and the schedule.

Beginning with the third quarter marking period, parents of Amesbury Middle School students will have direct access, via the Internet, to their children's grades and attendance. Login instructions, as well as other information, will be sent home with second quarter report cards. Aspen, the software application used by the district to manage student information, offers secure access that is limited to each individual student's family. The Amesbury school system has been using Aspen since 2008 and is now implementing the family portal so that parents, teachers and administrators can work together and communicate more effectively and efficiently.

With snowbanks as tall as people and more snow forecasted to fall this week, Amesbury educators are asking residents to use extra caution when taking to the streets and cleaning up after storms.
To be sure that students are safe as they make their commutes to and from school, sidewalks along the way must be cleared, so kids aren't walking in the streets. Likewise, parking at the schools is becoming scarce as snowbanks take over parking spots. Drivers are asked to be extra careful as they visit school grounds to drop off or pick up students, as visibility is greatly reduced.
