WEST NEWBURY — Candidates for town offices this spring won't be facing any competition on the ballot.
There are no contested races on the May 7 town election ballot, Town Clerk Michael McCarron said, following Monday's deadline to return completed nomination papers.
In addition, no one stepped forward to run for a five-year seat on the Planning Board. Arthur "Chip" Wallace, whose five-year term on the Planning Board expires this year, has said he will not seek re-election.
Residents who returned completed nominations papers are Glenn Kemper, Board of Selectmen; Robert Janes, Board of Health; William Krajeski, Board of Assessors; Jill Eichhorst, Pentucket Regional School Committee; Lawrence Corocran, Water Commission; Elizabeth Torissi, Scott P. Berkenbush and Virginia J. Selman, three seats on the Board of Library Trustees; Thomas J. Flaherty, Parks and Recreation Commission; Marge Peterson, Housing Authority; and Kathleen C. Swallow, Town Moderator.
All voting in the May 7 town election takes place in the 1910 Building Annex.
