Fundraiser under way to provide holiday meals

NEWBURYPORT — Newburyport Youth Services has launched its second annual Bag aTurkey fundraiser.

Youth Services is teaming up with the Newburyport Learning Enrichment Center to collect non-perishable food and monetary donations to purchase turkeys and the fixings to be donated to families in need during the upcoming holiday season. Donations will provide holiday meals and daily essentials for families throughout Newburyport. Last year, the group delivered 84 meals.

Non-perishable food collection bins can be found at the Kelley School Youth Center, Inn Street Montessori, Orange Leaf, Comina, Plum Island Coffee Roasters, Glitterati and Chococoa Baking Company. Containers for monetary donations will also be on the countertops of many local merchants throughout Newburyport.

The Bag a Turkey fundraiser will run through Dec. 20.
