Blessing of the Animals tomorrow at St. James

Tomorrow, St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland is holding a special service that includes a Blessing of the Animals and a celebration of service dogs (with their human partners). People are invited to bring restrained dogs, cats and other critters to be blessed during the worship service. Stuffed animals are welcome too. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 119 Washington St., Groveland, and will be held rain or shine. Monthly food pantry tomorrow

Looking for a hot snack tomorrow afternoon? Need some supplies to carry you through this week? All are welcome at the monthly food pantry and social hour tomorrow at 3 p.m. at 53.5 Washington St. in Newburyport. Congregation Ahavas Achim’s monthly community-wide social hour with food is for those in need in the Greater Newburyport area. Canned items will also be available for people to take with them. Food donations are accepted throughout the month, and volunteers are needed to help coordinate efforts. Future dates are Nov. 3 and Dec. 15. Thank you to the Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation for providing financial support of this community endeavor.

Ecumenical Taize Service for Peace

This service will have an emphasis on prayers for peace and will last about a half hour. It will consist of scripture readings, prayers, petitions, simple musical refrains and an extended period of silence. It will be held tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St.

Blessing of the Animals Oct. 13 at All Saints

Blessing of the Animals will take place after church on Sunday, Oct. 13, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 893 Main St., West Newbury.

Turkey Dinner at Salisbury church

East Parish United Methodist Church will be having its Annual Turkey Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 26, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is $9 per person, children 6 and under, $6. All meals include beverage and dessert. Takeouts are also available. The church is located at 8 Lafayette Road, Salisbury Square. Tickets will be sold at the door.
