---- — SALISBURY — Bartlett Farm of Salisbury had a very good day at the Vegetable Show at the Topsfield Fair.
Bartlett Farm was named “Best Farm Display,” “Best Bushel” (tomatoes) and “Best Plate Exhibit” (tomatoes).
Established in 1659, Bartlett Farm is run today by siblings Donna and Robert Bartlett, making them one of the oldest family farms in America. Bartlett Farm has passed through 11 generations, during which it has been operated under both the Morrill and Bartlett family names.
“I can’t remember the last time that one farm was awarded top honors in all three categories,” said Bill Clark, chair of the Vegetable Department and board member of the Essex Agricultural Society, the organization that runs the Topsfield Fair. “It seems only fitting that one of the oldest farming families would take the top honors at America’s oldest agricultural fair.”
The 195th annual Topsfield Fair will run through Columbus Day. The Bartlett’s entries, along with hundreds of others, will be on display every day of the fair in the Vegetable Barn.
