Former Boston police commissioner to address Chamber

Newburyport Daily News

---- — AMESBURY — The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Foundation’s annual dinner will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, with former Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis serving as the keynote speaker.

The dinner will be held at Amesbury Chevrolet, 103 Macy St., from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Drawing on his experience during the bombings at the Boston Marathon and its aftermath, as well as his years on the job, Davis is expected to discuss how public safety preparedness is of vital importance in current times, no matter the size or location of a city.

“As we’ve seen too many times in the media, both natural and man-made disasters can happen anywhere at any time,” Chamber executive director Melissa Lachance said. “I hope remarks by Commissioner Davis will open a greater dialogue in our community and inspire our residents to be more active in public safety issues for the well-being of everyone in our region.”

As in years past, several members of the Chamber community will be recognized at the Annual Dinner for their commitment and leadership, with awards including “Pillar of the Community,” “President’s Award” and “Unsung Hero.”

Tickets are $50 for Amesbury Chamber members, $60 for non-members and $380 for a table of eight. To reserve tickets, call 978-388-3178, or email chamber@amesburychamber.com. The dinner will be catered by Amesbury Sports Park and there will be a cash bar.
