Holy Week services at area churches

Annual Palm Sunday Procession in Amesbury

Amesbury Council of Churches will once again sponsor the Annual Palm Sunday Procession to celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The ecumenical service, hosted by St. James Episcopal Church, begins at the Amesbury Millyard Amphitheater at 9 a.m. The celebration will include the Blessing of the Palms, prayers, songs and shouts of “Hosanna” as the procession of people and palms follows a youth riding on a donkey through the town. The procession will stop at each church along the way for prayers and blessings for the ministries of Holy Week leading up to Easter. All are welcome.

Passover Seder at Market Street Baptist

Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury, will host a Passover Encounter Seder Supper on Wednesday, April 16, from 6-8 p.m.

Nathan Joiner, assistant to the rabbi at Ruach Israel, Needham, will lead the group step by step throught the meal. This is an opportunity to experience the supper that Jesus and His disciples would have enjoyed together and to see how Christ is the Passover Lamb. This event is open to the public. Episcopal churches celebrate Easter Vigil

On Saturday, April 19 at 7 p.m., seven Episcopal churches from seven communities will come together to celebrate Easter Vigil at Trinity Church, Haverhill, 26 White St., Haverhill. The parishes are part of the Lower Merrimack Valley Collaborative and include St. Andrew’s Methuen, St. Paul’s North Andover, St. James Groveland, Trinity Haverhill, St. James Amesbury, All Saints West Newbury and St. Paul’s Newburyport. Together, they will share a dramatic presentation of the story of God’s people in relationship with God and one another followed by the first Eucharist of Easter. Prior to the worship, there will be an egg hunt and light refreshments for children starting at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
