Indoor yard sale at Market Street Baptist

The Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St,, Amesbury, is hosting an indoor yard sale on Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. Items fill the gym at the back of the building. Nothing is priced. Any donations are accepted. The proceeds from this sale go directly to a fund that will pay the expenses for several church volunteers to go to Canada the week of July 19-26.

This will be the sixth summer connecting with Pastor Ian MacFarlane and the members of the Living Hope Community Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Each year volunteers spend the week at this church helping with children’s programs like Vacation Bible School and Bible Basketball. The Canadian church’s volunteers have also come to Amesbury twice to help with similar programs.

Meditative prayer services in Amesbury

Step away from the hustle and into grace with quiet music, prayer, readings and candlelight. Thursday services will be held through April 10, 6-6:30 p.m., at Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main St., Amesbury.

Main Street Congregational offers grant

Amesbury’s Main Street Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, is once again offering applications for up to $5,000 in grant money to help any Amesbury resident start up a new community service or mission program. Applicants must live in Amesbury, be at least 18 years old (or have an adult sponsor) and complete their application with a description of their project and how this will provide service to the community. Find the application on the church website, www.main-street-church.org, or call 388-0982. Applications are due April 15.

Salvation Army prayer group

The Newburyport Salvation Army will once again be offering a prayer workshop. Meetings will be Thursdays at 3:30-4:45 p.m. followed by Fellowship Dinner at 5. This year’s workshop is titled “How to Pray Always.” Call Mary on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons for more information at 978-465-0883.
