Anniversary celebration at Flatbread

Amesbury for Africa celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Pizza Nite at Flatbread Company in Amesbury today from 5 to 9 p.m. For every pizza sold (in the restaurant or take-out), Amesbury for Africa will receive a donation of $3.75.

The money collected will be used to assist AIDS orphans and other disadvantaged children in Amesbury’s sister village of Esabalu, Kenya.

Flatbread is located at 5 Market Square.

Lions Club holds recycling day

The Amesbury Lions Club will hold a Community Recycle Day on Saturday, April 26, at 23 Noel St. from 9 a.m. to noon. Discounts will be available for senior citizens and disabled adults. The Lions will also collect nonperishable food items and toiletry items for distribution by Our Neighbors’ Table food pantry.

Indoor yard sale at Market Street Baptist

The Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St,, Amesbury, is hosting an indoor yard sale on Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. Items fill the gym at the back of the building. Nothing is priced. Any donations are accepted. The proceeds from this sale go directly to a fund that will pay the expenses for several church volunteers to go to Canada the week of July 19-26.

This will be the sixth summer connecting with Pastor Ian MacFarlane and the members of the Living Hope Community Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Each year volunteers spend the week at this church helping with children’s programs like Vacation Bible School and Bible Basketball. The Canadian church’s volunteers have also come to Amesbury twice to help with similar programs. Meals on Wheels drivers needed

Volunteer drivers needed to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound elderly in the Amesbury/Merrimac area. This is part time job with stipend paid. Driver must have own vehicle. Contact: Virginia Chapinski, assistant director, MVNP, 978-686-1422, ext. 28.
