Salisbury Cultural Council awards 11 grants

Local volunteers make the system work, stretching resources as far as possible, funding cultural activities that may not have taken place without the financial help.

Statewide, more than $2.34 million will be distributed by local cultural councils this year. Grants support an enormous range of grass-roots activities such as concerts, exhibitions, festivals, radio and video productions and field trips and after-school programs for children, as well as writing workshops and historical preservation efforts.

Nearly half of the local cultural council funds distributed annually support educational activities for young people.

The Salisbury Cultural Council will seek applications again in the fall. For more information and applications, visit www.masscultural
