National Honor Society inducts 45 new members

NEWBURYPORT — Newburyport High School recently held its annual induction ceremony for the National Honor Society.

Forty-five new members were inducted. They are: Lauren Bouchard, Rachel Haley, Bryn McCarthy, Julia Bradley, Lauren Healey, Kelsey McCarthy, Brendan Byron, Meghan Healey, Abigale Muise, Marie Cahalane, Ashley Hodge, Mary O’Brien, Matthew Cote, Annika Jahn, Leah Petty, Christian Cyr, Rowan Johnson, Briana Salah, Caterina DiBiase, Morgan Johnston, Jacob Shactman, Lillian Eagan, Matthew Kelleher, Olivia Shea, Gwenna Emerson Megan Kelley, Matthew Short, Mairin Emerson, Molly Kelley, David Sokol, Timothy Englehart, James Kipp, Jordan Stamulis, Gabriel Ficht, Kristen Mackie, Juliet Stevenson, Andrew Gobbi, Maria Manning, Sarah Turi, Madeleine Goodhart, Caroline Marino, Renee Vartabedian, Heaven Goodwin, Bailey McCarthy and Richard Ventura.

The guest speaker for the evening was Jonathan Woodman, founder of Woodman Associates Architects.

The National Honor Society is meant to recognize students excelling in four areas: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. With scholarship, each candidate has maintained an impressive unweighted cumulative gpa of at least a 3.6 or an equally impressive weighted cumulative gpa of at least a 3.9.

Their leadership inspires positive attitudes and promotes the ideals of Newburyport High School. Their service shows precious “free” time has been given to help others without the need of recognition or compensation.

Lastly, their character exemplifies courtesy, honesty, reliability and dependability.
