SHINE office hours Aug. 2: SHINE Counselor Jerry Goldberg will be available to answer health insurance questions Monday, Aug. 2, 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church.

ESMV office hours Aug. 2: Elder Services of Merrimack Valley case manager Jenn Cook will be available to answer questions regarding ESMV programs and services Monday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church.

Blood pressure clinic Aug. 4: Public Health Nurse Jan Giles will be available to take blood pressure, check blood glucose levels and discuss heart-healthy tips with elders Wednesday Aug. 4, 10 to 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church.

Fire chief at Men's Breakfast Aug. 5: Discussing oxygen safety and other home safety tips, fire Chief Al Beardsley will be the guest speaker at the Men's Breakfast Thursday, Aug. 5, 9:30 a.m., at Trestle Way. With great appreciation, the Council on Aging thanks Crosby's Markets for their sponsorship and the Georgetown Housing Authority for their partnership in offering the monthly program. August birthday party Aug. 17: Join us on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 11:30 a.m., for the COA Monthly Birthday Celebration. August birthday celebrants will receive a free lunch (everyone else pays $2). To make reservations, call the COA office by Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Fruit cobbler and discussion Aug. 18: Join us on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. for seasonal fruit cobbler and summer discussion. Bring photos, stories and memories. For reservations, call the COA.

Morning card games and cribbage under way: Drop in for a card game or cribbage game Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. Coffee and snacks are served along with plenty of good fun. Make a day of it and stay for lunch.

Weekly COA exercise programs under way: In partnership with the Georgetown Housing Authority, the Georgetown COA offers weekly exercise programs at Trestle Way Community Room. Yoga classes are held at Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Strength Training classes are held at Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. A donation of $3 is suggested per class.

Updates to newsletter mailing list: As the Georgetown COA updates the newsletter mailing list to comply with new U.S. Postal Service regulations, some addresses have been eliminated from the COA newsletter mailing list. If you no longer receive the COA newsletter and would like to be added back to the newsletter mailing list, please call the COA to update contact information.
