Summer fun at the Merrimac library

---- — MERRIMAC — “Just dirt?” you say? Dig a little deeper and you’ll discover there’s a world of interesting things beneath your feet.

Join us for Merrimac Public Library’s Dig Into Reading summer program running from today through Aug. 9. Children ages 3 to 6 can register and pick up thier reading logs in the children’s room and ages 7 to teens can register and log their reading online at www.merrimaclibrary.org.

Kids ages 7 to 12 who complete the program, by reading five books by Aug. 9, will receive a Topsfield Fair Read & Win prize package and a certificate for a free kid’s meal at UNO in Haverhill. They’ll also be entered in a raffle to win some great prizes like an iTunes gift card, movie passes, an autographed photo of Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront or an autographed photo of Patriot punter Zoltan Masko.

Teens (ages 13 to 18) who complete the program, by reading five books by Aug. 9, will receive a certificate for a free appetizer at UNO in Haverhill.They’ll also be entered in a raffle to win some great prizes like an iTunes card, Dunkin Donuts gift card, movie passes or two grandstand seats for a Red Sox game in September.

Come and explore the Dig Into Reading theme with the help of the mascot, the garden gnome, and a summer full of fun activities and programs, Be sure to stop by the library and pick up an “Away-From-Home-Gnome” coloring sheet. Color this friendly gnome, cut him out, and take him with you on your summer adventures. Then take a picture of yourself with your gnome, bring it to the library and we’ll post it on our bulletin board.You’ll get a small prize and we’ll get to see all the wonderful places he’s gone this summer.

New passes at the Merrimac Public Library

The Merrimac Public Library has added the Lowell Spinners to its list of passes available for patrons. The Spinners passes can be used to purchase up to six tickets at a 50 percent discount starting at $3 each. The passes are game day specific and must be redeemed for tickets, in person, at the Spinner’s box office.

The library also offers passes to the following local museums: Children’s Museum of NH, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, New England Aquarium, Peabody Essex Museum, USS Constitution Museum, Zoo New England(Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo), Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Strawbery Banke Museum and the Massachusetts State Parks pass.
