Collection for hurricane victims today

NEWBURYPORT — A collection of supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy will be gathered today from 4 to 7 p.m. at K-Mart in the Shaw’s Plaza on Storey Avenue.

Supplies that are needed include: Blankets, candles and matches, flashlights, batteries (C and D), cases of water, Gatorade, diapers and wipes, work gloves, masks, heavy duty trash bags, rubber boots, shovels, winter clothes (jackets, gloves, hats, scarves), hand and toe warmers, tampons and feminine napkins, cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, granola bars, baby formula, baby food, pet food, cat litter, canned goods (with easy-to-open tops), any other grab and go food (crackers, pretzels, cookies, etc.)
