Former teen ump remembered by colleagues

The Merrimack Valley Umpires Association honors the memory of David M. Augusta III, who died in a car accident in August, by bestowing the David M. Augusta III Teen Associate Member Award.

David was entering his senior year at Timberlane Regional High School when he was killed. He loved his family and was an avid outdoorsman.

David, as a TAM, wore the uniform with pride. He was committed to improving his skills and earned the respect of veteran umpires, coaches, players and parents on and off the field by demonstrating a confident command presence, with a calm and polite approach.

The MVUA presented this award at its annual meeting on Sunday to Chase Goodwin of Amesbury, who exemplifies these qualities for which the MVUA stands, in the spirit of David M. Augusta III. Chase is the son of longtime MVUA member Charles Goodwin.
