Amesbury Friendly's fire being investigated

AMESBURY — The cause of a fire at Friendly's Restaurant on Route 110 Friday remains under investigation, according to the Amesbury Fire Department.

The one-alarm fire broke out Friday around 1 a.m. and started in a back office. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which never spread to the eatery's dining area.

Friendly's was closed over the weekend but reopened on Monday. Amesbury Fire Department was assisted by Newburyport and Merrimac Fire departments. Salisbury firefighters covered the Amesbury station during the fire.
