---- — SALISBURY — An Amesbury man is expected to be arraigned today in Newburyport District Court for allegedly assaulting at least one police officer during a bloody melee that began at a Gravel Way home.

Jonathan Anderson, 19, 99 Market St., was arrested Saturday at 8:35 p.m. and charged with four counts of assault and battery of a police officer, three counts of malicious destruction of property less than $250, malicious destruction of property more than $250, assault and battery and resisting arrest.

Assisting local officers Richard Dellaria, Michael Tullercash, Christopher Thurlow and Joshua Sindoni during the incident was at least one trooper from the state police barracks in Newbury.

According to state police, a trooper was called in to assist at the Gravel Way residence, located behind 46 Beach Road, after police found the scene covered in blood and a resident of the house unaccounted for. After a quick search of the area, Anderson was arrested by local police and the missing person found safe.

Saturday’s incident was the latest in a string of run-ins with police that have landed Anderson before Newburyport District Court judges. In February 2011, a person under 21 in possession of alcohol charge was continued without finding for two months. A year earlier, Anderson was charged with person under 21 in possession of alcohol and was sentenced to six months probation and ordered to pay $50 to the Victim-Witness Fund. Both of those incidents took place in Amesbury.
