Police search for Groveland home intruder

GROVELAND — Police in Groveland scoured an area of the town yesterday with help from police in Boxford and Georgetown as well as two state police K-9 teams after a woman on Baldwin Terrace reported that a man had tried to enter her home though a steel bulkhead.

Police said the woman scared the man off after she heard him trying to break in. Police said they found footprints in the snow leading from the home to a wooded area. The woman called police at approximately 2:30 p.m. to say a man had tried to enter her home.

“He actually got in a few steps and was scared off,” Police Deputy Chief Jeffrey Gillen said.

The woman told police the man was wearing a black and grey hoodie and blue jeans and that he had black hair.

Gillen said the home is located in a small cul-de-sac between Route 97 and Gardner Street. He said power lines run through that area.

Police are warning residents to be on the lookout for any strangers, to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and to lock their doors.
