Ray-Parrott takes out papers to run for moderator

One more person has taken out papers to run for town office this spring. Rona-Lee Ray-Parrott is planning to run for town moderator.

For more than 20 years, Ron Ray — Ray-Parrott’s father — has served at Salisbury’s town moderator. It now appears the torch is being passed to a new generation.


This weekend’s snowstorm has caused the cancellation of the Board of Selectman’s meeting originally scheduled for tonight at 7.


Town Clerk Wilma McDonald reminds residents to fill out and return the 2013 town census. Population figures determined by the annual town census are used when the town applies for state and federal grants, so it’s important to get accurate numbers, she said.


Business owners are reminded that Friday, March 1, at 1 p.m. is the deadline to return the Form of List to the Assessor’s Office.

The forms were mailed in January, and those who have not received the form or those who have questions should call Sherry Volpone at 978-465-8242.


The COA has many regular programs to help senior adults remain fit, enjoy their favorite hobbies or learn new things. For more information on the varied programs offered daily at the Hilton Center for local seniors or to register for any special events listed below, call the COA at 978-462-2412.

The Hilton Center will be closed on Presidents Day, Feb. 18, and residents are reminded that if school is called off due to inclement weather, the Hilton Center will also be closed.

Tax preparation assistance is available at the Hilton Center by appointment until April 15. No walk-ins will be accepted, but appointments can be made to meet with the volunteer offering help with taxes by calling the COA at 978-462-2412.

Those taking part must bring all the necessary information with them, which includes last year’s tax return.
