---- — And with less than four months left of this fiscal year, Salisbury has already overspent its $99,000 snow budget by almost 50 percent. Totals for labor, contracted services and materials for storm events were at $140,000 as of Wednesday, according to Salisbury Public Works Director Donald Levesque. Given this year’s history, there’s nothing to say there aren’t more weather events on the horizon.

“But whatever comes, the people should know that the streets will be plowed and remain safe as always, no matter where the budget’s at,” Levesque said.

Salisbury Elementary School will hold a preschool information night for parents on Wednesday, April 3. Parents of preschool children are invited to the event at the Salisbury Elementary School from from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The open house gives parents of prospective students an overview of the classroom program, tour of the preschool classrooms and a PowerPoint presentation.

Preliminary applications will be available for next year’s program. Children must be 3 years old before Sept. 1, 2013, in order to apply. Spaces are limited.

The Triton School District preschools provide child-centered, developmentally appropriate preschool classes for young children ages 3 to 5. Classes meet two or three mornings or two or four afternoons each week. Tuition is based on the number of days/week. Financial assistance based on income is available for those who qualify.

Newbury Elementary School will hold its information night on Tuesday, April 9, and Pine Grove in Rowley, on Thursday, April 4.

The Council on Aging is still in need of help building a patio at the Hilton Senior Center. The COA asks residents to consider purchasing a patio brick, which can be engraved as a memorial. Bricks are of various sizes and the cost are either $25 or $50.
