Residents urged to review property values

WEST NEWBURY — Town Assessor Karen Rassias issued the following public disclosure yesterday regarding proposed property values for fiscal year 2013:

The Town of West Newbury’s property values are in the processes of being recertified by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Division of Local Services for Fiscal Year 2013. As part of this recertification process, the Board of Assessors are required to conduct a public disclosure period, during which time taxpayers can review the proposed FY2013 property values.

Values will be available for public review in the Assessor’s Office at the 1910 Building, 381 Main St., during regular business hours, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon, and at the public library from Nov. 14–21.

FY 2013 values have been adjusted to reflect fair market value as of Jan. 1, 2012 and are based on calendar year 2011 sales data. These values are pending preliminary certification from the DOR. The assessors’ office encourages all taxpayers to review their new proposed assessments.

Questions concerning assessments should be directed to the assessors’ office at 978-363-1100, ext. 17 during the hours listed above.
