Steven Jil, 34, 102 Oxford St., Lawrence; larceny by check of more than $250, found guilty, sentenced to one year in the house of correction (concurrent with previously imposed sentence), ordered to pay restitution of $928.20 (Salisbury).
Marcia A. Byers-Burns, 53, 1 Longbrook Road, Apt. 1, Byfield; violation of an abuse prevention order, found guilty, sentenced to one year in the house of correction (concurrent with previously imposed sentence, given credit for 28 days served) (Newbury).
Ian Denault, 20, 30 Elm St., Plaistow, N.H.; driving with a suspended license, placed on pretrial probation for two months, ordered to pay $50 to the VWF (West Newbury).

Ryan Pezullo, 30, 71 Newburyport Turnpike, Newbury; aggravated assault and battery, continued for 18 months with probation, attend anger management program, pay $806.26 in restitution, $90 to VWF, stay away from victim (Rowley).

Waves, rescues surge
SALISBURY BEACH — There has been little downtime for Salisbury Beach lifeguards over the past few days, as massive waves have led to frequent rescues and injuries to beach-goers.

Tuesday set a notable record: Lifeguards conducted at least 18 rescues, about half of all the rescues they have conducted this summer. Lifeguard supervisor George Nigro said a combination of warm water, hot temperatures, high surf and a high volume of swimmers led to the busy day. -
