Cultural Council sets deadline for grant applications

NEWBURY — The Newbury Cultural Council has set an Oct. 15 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community.

These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Newbury — including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures.

This year, the Newbury Cultural Council will distribute approximately $4,000 in grants.

In previous years the council has financially supported the Newburyport Literary Festival, “Rock Detectives” program at Newbury Elementary School, museum trips for the Newbury Council on Aging, Byfield Days, Theatre in the Open, and many other organizations and projects.

The Newbury Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the commonwealth.

Application forms, guidelines, and directions can be found at www.mass-culture.org.
