Blessing of the Animals and the Feast of St. Francis

St. James Episcopal Church, 120 Main St., Amesbury, will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis tomorrow at the 10 a.m. service. Bring your pets, their pictures, or your stuffed friends. Small pets should be in carriers. Larger pets should be on leashes. If your pet is particularly rambunctious, we will happily join you in the narthex or on the steps. There will be a prayer for all creatures and especially for endangered species. Donations will be accepted such as small blankets, used towels, pet coats, toys, treats, etc., and for a local animal shelter.

Animals welcome at St. Paul’s tomorrow

The annual Blessing of the Animals service will be held tomorrow at St. Paul’s Church, 166 High St., Newburyport. For the 8 a.m. service, bring a special toy, memento or photo of your animal(s). At the 10:15 am service, well-mannered pets of all kinds are welcome to come to the church for a special blessing.

Oct. 17, 7:30 p.m., Open mike at the Shul hosted by local folksinger Susan Levine.

The Crossing in concert Oct. 3

Celtic Concert with The Crossing will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Old South Church, 29 Federal St., Newburyport. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Donations will be received at concert in lieu of ticket sales. The concert is sponsored by FirstLoveWorks. For more information visit
