Stones from Church Street Cemetery wall to be sold

MERRIMAC — The old stone wall at the town’s Church Street Cemetery has recently been demolished for safety reasons. It will be replaced by a new steel fence with granite posts.

Many current and former town residents have fond memories of walking, sitting, skateboarding on that wall, and have expressed an interest in purchasing stones for their yards and gardens.

Stones will be sold for $20 each on the Saturdays in October at the town Salt Shed on Mill Street between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Proceeds will be used to replace the last section of chain link fence along the front of the cemetery, which is not part of the original project.

For more information, call the cemetery office, 978-346-9389, or email
