Flu clinics planned in Amesbury, Salisbury

The Amesbury and Salisbury health departments are preparing for the 2013-2014 flu season. In order to best serve the residents, residents who are uninsured or homebound and unable to attend a public clinic are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment with the public health nurse.

The public health nurse will assess the needs and schedule a time to provide the vaccine beginning today from 8 a.m.–noon. The nurse can be reached at 978-388-8138, ext. 547.

All other residents are encouraged to attend a public clinic on the following dates:

Amesbury: Oct. 10at 68 Elm St. (Transportation Center) from 4-6 p.m.

Salisbury: Oct. 29 at 5 Beach Road (Town Hall) from 4-6 p.m.

Those who have insurance that covers the flu vaccine are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible by any provider available. Public clinics offered by the Health Department must follow state guidelines and provide vaccine to uninsured/under-insured adults and children first.

Be prepared at the clinic with insurance information and a copy of an insurance card.
