Programs at Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats

NEWBURYPORT — Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, One Plum Island Turnpike, is a natural history education and visitor center that is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday and Monday holidays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mass Audubon members receive discounts on programs. Call 978-462-9998 for information about additional programs and events or visit www.massaudubon.org/joppaflats.

Activities and outings meet at the education center unless otherwise noted.

FALL MIGRANTS IN BOSTON

Education coordinator Dave Larson leads this trip to the Fenway’s Victory Gardens, Post Office Square, the Public Gardens and beyond.

SATURDAY MORNING BIRDING

Join our experienced leaders in a search for avian activity in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. For beginners and birders of all skill levels.

Saturdays, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27, 9: to 11:30 a.m. Fee: adults, $10; children ages 8 and up, $7. No registration required.

THE WONDER AND THE WOW: TIDE POOLS OF SANDY POINT

Family educator Lisa Hutchings takes adults to investigate the tide pools at Sandy Point on Plum Island.

Saturday, Oct. 6, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Meet at Sandy Point, Plum Island. Fee $27. Registration is required.

SEAL PADDLE

Paddle with Plum Island Kayak in the Merrimack River to see seals as well as the birds of local mudflats and tidal creeks.

Sunday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Meet at Plum Island Kayak, 92 Merrimac St., Newburyport. Fee $60. Registration is required.

TAKE A WALK ON THE WILDSIDE: TIDE POOL TREASURE HUNT

Spend quality time with your family as Lisa Hutchings takes you on eye-opening experiences in our natural neighborhood. This month, we go out to look at tide pools. For families with children ages 7 through 11.

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIRDING
