Food donations needed for Pettengill House

---- — SALISBURY — The Pettengill House Food Pantry needs donations of food and cash to fill its bare shelves.

The holidays are quickly approaching, and more and more families are in need of assistance, according to officials at the social service agency that assists people in need from throughout the lower Merrimack Valley region.

Pettengill relies on the community to help meet the increasing demand. The most needed items are peanut butter and jelly, canned pasta and stews, spaghetti sauce, tuna and canned chicken, macaroni and cheese, soups, school snacks and juice boxes. Beginning in November, the Pettengill House will also be accepting donations for its annual Thanksgivings Meals program. Needed items will include turkeys, stuffing, gravy, canned or fresh vegetables, potatoes, canned or fresh fruit, cranberry sauce, rolls and pies.

Mnetary donations are also greatly appreciated to assist with both programs. Checks may be made payable to The Pettengill House, Inc., P.O. Box 5551, 13 Lafayette Road, Salisbury, MA 01952.

The Pettengill House, Inc. is a nonprofit community social service agency providing services to more than 3,400 men, women and children, 625 of whom are deemed homeless, in Amesbury, Byfield, Groveland, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury.
