---- — MERRIMAC — Plans for a 1.5-megawatt solar array for installation at the Sargent Pit well field are under consideration, and selectmen last week unanimously voted its support for the project.

Among other items discussed at the meeting:

Selectmen accepted SGC Engineering’s revised amendment of the scope of services for the Attitash Wastewater Pumping Station project. The revision, which includes more services, was precipitated by several negative comments about the plan at a previous meeting.

Finalized town square plans, including a parking lot and new water mains, were submitted to the board for review.

CEI Engineering’s Michael Ohl reports that water pressure problems at the Attitash pumping station will be resolved shortly. He also noted that enclosing the pump machinery in concrete structures would reduce neighborhood noise.

The contract for Jani King’s janitorial services at the Council on Aging has been terminated. According to Selectman Laura Mailman, who is also the COA director, the work will now be performed by one of her senior aides, who was formerly a janitor.
