Newburyport Daily News

---- — NEWBURYPORT — The Greater Newburyport AGLY — a group striving to create a safe environment for youth to explore sexuality, gender and relationships — is hosting a celebration for National Coming Out Day tomorrow.

According to the Human Rights Campaign, National Coming Out Day commemorates the Oct. 11, 1987 march in Washington, D.C., for lesbian and gay rights.

Newburyport’s celebration will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Kelley School Youth Center at 149 High St. and will feature music and refreshments. Attendees should enter through the rear door.

Members of the community who wish to come out, have already come out or would like to support those coming out are welcome to attend.

“We are very excited, and hope this celebration will become an annual tradition where LGBTQ people and those who support them can come together and celebrate this day,” NewAGLY youth leader Linnea Menin said.
