Jetty repair meeting postponed

NEWBURYPORT — A meeting to discuss repair of the south jetty at the Merrimack River that was originally planned for tonight has been postponed until Wednesday night at 7, due to threatening weather conditions, city officials announced.

The meeting for area residents will be at the Plum Island Taxpayers & Associates building on Plum Island Turnpike in Newbury.

A contract to refurbish the south jetty was recently awarded, and work on the 1,400-foot structure will soon begin, officials say.

The session is designed to address concerns about traffic, construction and other issues.
