A magical Halloween at Rowley Library

A Halloween celebration comes to Rowley Public Library on Wednesday at 10 a.m. “Storytelling with Snow White” will be a magical experience for boys and girls of all ages to interact with a favorite storybook character. The event will include music, dance and treats. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in costumes.

Trick or treating in town is on Halloween, Wednesday night, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The library’s book club will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The group will be discussing the book “Say Her Name,” a haunting story of love and loss by Francisco Goldman. Copies of the book are available at the library. For more information, call the library at 978-948-2850.

The Rowley Historical Society is collecting recipes for its new 2014 edition of its 1994 cookbook. New recipes will be featured along with tried and true ones from the 1994 edition. Send recipes — for appetizers, desserts, main courses, salads, soups, candy and more — to Diane McMahon, in care of the Rowley Historical Society, 233 Main St., Rowley, MA 01969 or drop them off to Town Clerk Susan Hazen. Remember to include contact information in case there are questions about your recipe.

Now is the time to sign up for fall/winter sports. Deadlines are looming for Triton Youth Wrestling and Triton Youth Basketball registration. Visit for more information on wrestling and for details about travel and recreational basketball teams.

It’s not too early to think about helping others over the holidays. The Friends of the Rowley Public Library are hosting their first Holiday Basket Raffle. Anyone is invited to contribute a basket full of goodies (with a regular retail value of at least $50) to be raffled off.

If you own a business, this is a good chance to get your products out to the public. Others might want to create a themed basket for the holidays or provide the tools to start a new hobby or project. Single items and monetary donations will be accepted as well. Donors’ names will be included in all advertising and receive a tax-deduction receipt.
