Bike swap set for Sunday

Newburyport Daily News

---- — NEWBURYPORT —The 2nd Annual North Shore Community Bike Swap will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the The Tannery on Water Street.

The locally based Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) Team, The Riverside Rockets, will present the swap to benefit The Jimmy Fund. The goal of this event is to generate money to help in the fight against cancer while providing a venue for people from the local community to either buy or sell second hand bicycles. The event is hosted by The Tannery Mall, The Coastal Trails Coalition and Riverside Cycle in Newburyport.

If you’re looking to buy a bike, stop by the Tannery Tent and check out all of the bicycles, tricycles and even a unicycle for sale. Volunteers will be on hand to answer all of your questions.

If you would like to sell a bike, bring it into Riverside on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they will take care of the rest. There are 2 options;

Take 80 percent of the purchase price in cash or 100 percent as store credit at Riverside.

Either way, 20 percent of the purchase price will go to the PMC.

If you would like to donate a bike, drop it off at Riverside anytime up to March 23. Bike pick up can also be arranged, just email the Coastal Trails Coalition at info@coastaltrails.org. Proceeds of the sale for donated bikes will go to the CTC (80%) and PMC (20%). All donations are tax deductible.
