New compost site opening April 4

AMESBURY — The city has relocated its compost site to 56 South Hunt Road. The new site will officially open for the 2013 season on Thursday, April 4, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Stickers are required to use the compost site. Compost stickers may be purchased at the Public Works Department at 39 South Hunt Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday or by downloading a form found under the Public Works tab at www.amesburyma.gov and mailing it and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the DPW, 39 South Hunt Road, Amesbury 01913.

In addition, curbside leaf collection will take place on Saturdays, April 27 and May 18. Leaves and grass clippings must be placed in brown recyclable bags or left loose in marked barrels and be placed at the curb by 6:30 a.m. Only leaves and grass clippings will be accepted. Bags with branches, plants, dirt, rocks or trash are not permitted and will be left behind.
