Events at Congregation Ahavas Achim

Upcoming events at Congregation Ahavas Achim, corner of Washington and Olive streets, Newburyport:

Shabbat services every Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

VBS at Market Street Baptist

The Market Street Baptist Church, 37 Market St., Amesbury, is hosting a Vacation Bible School for both girls and boys ages 5 to 9 years old, Monday to Friday, July 22-26, from 9 a.m. to noon. The VBS program “Follow God” includes games in the gym, crafts, bible study and new songs to learn. A snack of water and fruit will be provided each day.

A suggested donation fee of $10 per child is requested to cover expenses. However, the church does not wish to keep any child away for financial reasons, so it will accept can be afforded.

Bible study at Old South

A weekly Bible study is held at Old South Church in Fellowship Hall every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The group is studying the “Seven Deadly Sins.” Anyone can join in at any time. The church is located on Federal Street in Newburyport.

Weekly sharing of healing experiences

The Christian Science Church, 22 Inn St., holds a one-hour meeting every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. specifically for sharing gratitude to God. After readings from the Scriptures and the Christian Science textbook on a topic of current interest, the meeting is then opened for the informal sharing of healing experiences. The service includes the lively singing of hymns. Everyone in the community is invited.

Women’s, men’s Bible study groups meet

St. James Episcopal Church, 120 Main St., Amesbury has a Bible study group, “The Women of Faith,” that meets every other Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Check the website for meeting dates. On Saturday Morning, join the Men’s Group for enlightening conversation and readings of the Bible. The Men’s Group meets on Saturdays at 9 a.m. Both Bible Study groups are open to the public.
