Postmaster hosts photo contest

NEWBURYPORT — Paul Bolas, the local postmaster here, is hosting a photo contest with the theme of Winter in Newburyport.

Entries can be submitted to: Winter in Newburyport, PO Box #5, Newburyport, MA 01950-9998.

Bolas said the photo must be taken in Newbury, Newburyport or Salisbury. Key requirement: The subject must be a matter of local interest.

The winners in two categories, adult and young adult (16 and under), will each receive a $50 gift certificate.

In addition, the winning photos will be placed in lobby of the local Postal Service at 61 Pleasant St. The best photos will remain on the wall for a year until new winners are chosen.

Entries will not be accepted electronically. It is suggested that the photo be 8-by-10 inches, and people can enter up to three photos.

Bolas is seeking volunteers to help judge the contest. He can be reached at 978-463-5489.
