Dog tags ready for Merrimac pups

MERRIMAC — The owners of all canine residents of Merrimac 6 months of age or older are required to register and obtain dog tags at the town clerk’s office.

Dog owners must present proof of a current rabies vaccination for their pets and pay a fee of $20. There is a 50 percent discount in the fee for dogs that have been spayed or neutered; their owners pay just $10 for their registrations and tags.

Town Clerk Pat True reminds all local dog owners that they can avoid a trip to Merrimac Town Hall by registering through the mail.
