Putting an end to homelessness

AMESBURY — “The Homeless: Who? What? Why? What Can We Do?” will be the focus of a program on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at Amesbury Friends Meetinghouse, 120 Friend St.

The free program, presented by the Amesbury Friends Peace Center, will highlight the problem of homelessness in the richest country in the world, what is being done to combat it and how local citizens might be able to help.

Speakers will include Newburyport City Councilor Ed Cameron, associate director of housing and homeless services for Community Teamwork Inc. in Lowell, and Kirstie Moreno, coordinator of the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance Speakers Bureau.

A formerly homeless member of the alliance will also talk about the experience of being homeless.

A discussion and questions from the audience will follow the presentation. The public is invited. For more information, visit www.amesburyfriendspeacecenter.org.
